V Day Sugar Cookies.

This is my favorite sugar cookie recipe. It comes from my mom's Betty Crocker cookbook from the 80's. They remind me of my childhood. I love almond extract and that is what sets this recipe apart for me. Love it!

Cream:
1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
1 cup of butter (softened)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract

Then mix in:
2 1/2 cups of flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Refrigerate for atleast an hour (two is best). Then divide dough in half, roll out and cut out cookies. Bake at 375 degrees for 5-6 minutes.

Also here is my favorite frosting recipe, my cute sis-in-law gave it to me; if your feeling ambitious and want to make the frosting yourself too.

Buttercream Frosting with a Twist

3/4 stick of butter (softened)
2 cups of powdered sugar
1/8 - 1/4 cup milk
1 tsp. almond extract

Mix until frosting consistency is reached. Add more powdered sugar or milk to soften or stiffen.

*I used my Wilton specialty food coloring to get the frosting hot pink. I love that stuff!*

Enjoy!
