Butterbeer

I know I am a complete nerd, but I LOVE Harry Potter! I found a recipe last year for butterbeer (a fictional drink used throughout the series) and I've adapted it to my liking. It tastes like a really sweet apple cider and is a perfect fall/halloween/winter beverage. I always serve it with cinnamon chip scones. Archer farms has a boxed mix with a maple glaze that I just add extra cinnamon chips to. Or you could use any good scone recipe and add in cinnamon chips. The scones and cider are a perfect combo!

Butterbeer
Serves 6

3 C unfiltered apple cider
4 1/2 C cream soda
3 T vanilla extract
5.5 oz bag werthers original candies
1 1/2 T ground cinnamon
1/2 T ground cloves
1/2 T ground nutmeg
1/2 T ground ginger

Bring apple cider and cream soda to a low boil in a large pot. Add candies and stir continuously until melted. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain well and serve.
